For the next 50 days, through September 8, we have cut our Bitcoin buy fee in half, from 1% to 0.50%.
The halved rate applies to instant buys, recurring buys, limit orders, and Swan IRA buys.
Withdrawals stay complimentary, as always. Swan pays the network fee because we want you to hold the Bitcoin you buy.
Here's everything you need to know.
What is 50 Days for Freedom? Why is Swan doing this?
“50 Days for Freedom” is a campaign to accelerate Bitcoin adoption, grow the ranks of committed Bitcoiners, and advance the cause of monetary independence in America's 250th year.
Our CEO Cory Klippsten published an essay titled The Battle for Monetary Independence, and it's about the work in front of us.
In this essay, Cory explains why we're doing this, drawing on his grandfather's journal from the deck of the USS Yorktown in 1945. His experience taught Cory that history looks inevitable only after ordinary people have done the work to make it happen.
History is made by people who act. Your part starts with buying Bitcoin and taking custody of it. We're here to help.
Throughout the campaign, Swan will publish education on Bitcoin, freedom, and self-custody, and convene the community every day.
Café Bitcoin is returning as live X Spaces with Swan's team and curated guests.
Swan is also gifting Inventing Bitcoin, often recommended as the best introduction to Bitcoin, authored by Swan co-founder and CTO Yan Pritzker. Download the book here.
How long does the reduced fee campaign last?
The 0.50% buy fee begins on July 21st and goes through September 8th.
What happens to the fee after 50 days?
When the campaign ends on September 8, the buy fee returns to its standard 1%.
Do I have to opt in or enter a code?
No. If you have a Swan account, the 0.50% fee applies automatically to every buy during the campaign. There's nothing to activate.
Does this apply to me if I'm an existing client?
Yes. The halved fee applies automatically to existing and new clients alike for the full 50 days.
Does the fee cut apply to selling, too?
No, the fee cut applies only to Bitcoin buys.
Does it apply to recurring buys?
Yes. Recurring Swan buys automatically get the 0.50% fee during the campaign. Recurring buys executing on or after September 9 are charged the standard 1% fee
I have an open limit order. Does it get the lower fee?
Limit orders keep the fee rate from when they were created. Orders placed before July 21 keep their original fee. To get the 0.50% rate, cancel the order and recreate it during the campaign.
Is there a limit to how many purchases qualify?
No. Every Bitcoin purchase executed during the campaign receives the promotional 0.50% buy fee.
Does it apply to purchases inside a Swan IRA?
Yes. IRA purchases automatically get the 0.50% fee during the campaign
If you’re considering a larger inbound IRA transfer from another custodian, this campaign could save you a lot in fees.
Are withdrawals really free?
Yes. We pay the Bitcoin network fee for all withdrawal transactions, no limits, no minimums, for every client.
