Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an online security measure that helps to protect an online account from hackers that is highly recommended.
Swan already protects your account with secure one-time passcodes that are emailed to you. To obtain this code requires a hacker to have access to your email account. However, if you add two-factor authentication to your account, hackers must get access both to your email password, and your mobile device in order to log in to your Swan account. This gives your security an extra layer!
For this extra layer to actually work, don't sync your 2FA codes to your email — in Google Authenticator, that means choosing "Use Authenticator without an account" instead of signing in with your Gmail. And secure the email address on your Swan account with a passkey rather than a password, since your inbox receives your Swan login codes.
You can use any authenticator app with Swan, other than one called Duo. In our experience, Google Authenticator downloaded to your phone is the easiest (Here are links to download it to Android or iOS). For help setting up your two-factor authentication, please read here.
